Hey Oppo,
SOOO I know I’ve made quite a few indecisive posts about what I am getting to replace the TDI but I finally made my decission...And bought the car ! I was going to wait but the deals on leftover 2016's were way to good to pass up. And same with the color.
So I drove just about every VW you can buy on Sunday and decided the best car is the 2016 Passat SEL. Then I get home and find one in blue, nearly the same blue as the mustang, about 75 miles from my house and at the best price for any SEL Passat in my area. I called them first thing Monday, worked out a price that was $9,000 below sticker, and went down to buy the car after work yesterday.
I drove two and a half hours in DC traffic to get the car but I had a nice drive home since I didn’t leave the dealer till about 10PM. So far the car has been great and I will report back soon with more about it. But What do you want to know about the 2016 Passat SEL ?
And as far as the TDI, The buy back is in about 5-6 weeks and I am just going to pocket the money and put it towards a down-payment for a house in the next year or two.

Nice! I really dig the blue.
I would give it a slight window tint to make it perfect. Not full dark ghetto tint, just what the usual factory tints look like. But that’s just me.

Nice looking car!
What dealer did you go to?

Already made my tint appointment !

Nice! That’s a very handsome looking car.

Oh cool. Well, it sounds like they made you a heck of a deal, so that’s good. The only one in the area I’m familiar with is Stohlman.

It is ! I really wanted to love the CC more, but when I drive both back to back, I think this actually drives better even though the CC is the “sport” sedan

$9k off is one hell of deal. Nice job!

how does VW sucker ANYONE in for another one of their products?
![]() 09/14/2016 at 15:57 |

They make a good product, I get that what they did was shady, but I still like their product

Yeah sticker was $32980, I paid $23,460 before taxes and tags

30% off MSRP is a great start.

I drove one of these as a rental for a week (it was a TSi). It was great! Tons of room inside, never lacked power, super comfy.
If only they made it as a wagon, and if only I could afford one, this would likely be my next purchase.

Yeah I do lust for a wagon version but I really am not upset by the sedan, Feels much like an Audi from a few years ago with all of the bells and whistles on this top trim model, plus your right, so far this Tsi 1.8T is very nice

Very nice. Really like the blue.
If this was a Euro Passat it would be my car’s sister. The interior are very similar still and the TSi engine is a lovely motor. We don’t get the Passat in Petrol in the U.K. And the 1.8TSi engine isn’t an option for the Superb in the U.K. Either but is in Europe.
I hope you have many happy years of motoring in her and ye’, though what VAG did was shady, I personally don’t think it’s as bad as all the recalls that are happening to many othe cars right now.

They make really good cars.
Mine’s a petrol, Skoda and I love th girl to bits. Solid, reliable, efficient, looks great, etc...

Ye’, I never got on with that one.

Yeah I honestly don’t have much of a problem with what they did, honestly, I’m only taking the money for the TDI because its just too much money to say no to.

Wagon you say? I was just in Serbia, and I had a Golf 7, 4 door with a 1.2L TSi engine. Great little car. I just took photos of random cars we don’t get here.

That’s a damn good deal. Wow.

What engine does it have?
![]() 09/14/2016 at 17:59 |

Very nice, heck of a discount as well. I have started stalking dealer inventories so I can hand my TDI back and hit the other dealer as soon as the funds go through.

1.8T, good little engine, really seems to feel like a lot more than the number suggest

Nice nice, my Jetta has the same.
It's kinda gutless, but I get 40 highway mpg and that in itself is pretty good. Mine is manual though.
![]() 09/14/2016 at 23:28 |

Yeah the TDI I am loosing is a Manual, no more manuals in the high trim VW

I don’t really like blue, but every time I see a new Passat in it (In Mexico it has been the best selling midsize for decades) I can’t help but think I’d aldo get it in blue. Nice!

How are you enjoying the Passat.
What do they call your blue?
They call mine Petrol Blue Metallic in the U.K. and Lava Blue Metallic in Europe.

I think its called Reef Blue Metallic here in the states. So far I’m really enjoying it. Might do a mini review later on today

I think it’s a very similar blue to mine. Looks great in the sun.
They are great cars. Really good size inside and out and great levels of comfort.
